Here’s a list of 5 stories of major importance that the mainstream media deliberately ignored this week:
1. Christian Woman Executed in North Korea. North Korea reserves public executions only for the worst of criminals, such as murderers and rapists, and people who distribute American movies. Oh, and housewives who pass out Bibles.
“Ri Hyon Ok, 33, was also accused of spying for South Korea and the United States and organizing dissidents. She was executed in the northwestern city of Ryongchon near the border with China on June 16, according to a report from an alliance of several dozen anti-North Korea groups. Ri’s parents, husband and three children were sent to a political prison camp in the northeastern city of Hoeryong the following day, the report said, citing unidentified documents it says were obtained from North Korea.”
2. Genetic Corn in Iraq. Glenn Beck mentioned this on his radio show, but no other media picked up on it. The U.S. has forced Iraqi farmers to switch to genetically modified corn to grow their crops. The seeds grow an abundant crop every year, but the farmer can’t create his own seeds from it, and therefore has to buy more seeds each year from the corporation that bioengineers it. By the way, it cross-pollinates and kills native corn, ensuring a steady stream of cash for the patent-holder.
3. Palin Ethics Complaint Tainted. Fox News reported this one, but nobody else picked up on it, in spite of covering Alaska Governor Sarah Palin passing out hot dogs at a picnic. The latest ethics complaint against her was leaked to the Associated Press, and the findings initially didn’t look good. Until the independent attorney who was investigating her turned out to be a major donor to the democratic party, whose firm had done work for the Obama campaign.
4. The Fake Monkey Retraction. Turns out that scientists DON’T believe that the tiny monkey bones that were unveiled in a major media blitz earlier this summer are related to human beings. In fact, the head of the field museum in Chicago points out that the dead monkey has “nothing whatsoever to do with the origin of higher primates”. (Hat Tip: Vox Day) While the media ran an endless stream of stories that day, calling it the “Eighth Wonder of the World”, the “missing link”, and “final proof that evolution is true”, not a single outlet has reported that the whole thing was a pile of dung. Who says the media aren’t religious? They hold to Darwinism almost as fiercely as biologists.
5. We’re in a Depression. This is one they’ve actually failed to report for months, and this week they’re insisting that the economy is turning around, all under the brave “leadership” of our messianic politicians. Bill Bonner in Vancouver, B.C. points out that yes, we are in a depression, in his post, A Worldwide Bubble in Everything. The jobs that go away are not coming back. Period.
